What It Is
DRYLOK Extreme bonds into the pores of bare concrete block, poured concrete, brick and stucco to form a waterproof film. It’s meant for interior or exterior walls above or below grade, including basement and retaining walls. It comes in bright white and can be tinted.
Pros
- Highest hydrostatic pressure rating in the DRYLOK line
- 15-year transferable warranty when applied as directed to bare masonry
- Resists mildew on the dry film
- Easy water cleanup and low odor
Cons
- Low coverage per gallon, so plan on more product than you’d expect
- Applying it over previous coatings voids the warranty
- Not for floors or other horizontal surfaces with foot traffic; DRYLOK Floor & Wall is the floor product
- A coating can’t fix cracks, failed drainage or structural leaks; fix those first
Who Should Buy It
It’s a good fit for homeowners with damp or seeping basement walls who can get down to bare masonry. For floors, or if you want an invisible treatment, see best sealer for basement waterproofing and DryLok Clear.
Application Tips
- Remove efflorescence and any old paint first.
- Plug active leaks and the floor/wall joint with a hydraulic cement such as DRYLOK Fast Plug.
- Back-brush the first coat to fill pinholes, then apply a second full coat.
