Scofield Formula One Lithium Densifier has long been a go-to product for polished and dyed concrete floors. After Sika acquired Scofield, the product was renamed Sikafloor-956 Formula One LD RTU; you’ll still see it sold under both names.
| Type | Penetrating lithium silicate densifier |
| VOC | Very low |
| Finish | Non-film-forming; sheen develops with polishing |
| Best for | Ground and polished concrete, dyed interior floors |
| Pairs with | Formula One Liquid Dye, Formula One Guard-W, Formula One Finish Coat |
| Intended user | Experienced professionals |
What It Is
It’s a deep-penetrating lithium densifier that reacts with concrete to harden it, increase abrasion resistance and make polishing easier. In dyed-floor systems it also helps lock in the dye. Because it isn’t a coating, it won’t crack, peel or delaminate.
Pros
- Increases surface hardness and abrasion resistance
- Helps lock in concrete dyes as part of a complete system
- Very low VOC and low odor
- Can be paired with Formula One Finish Coat (now Sikafloor-958) for added water and stain repellency
Cons
- Designed for professional polishing crews, not a typical DIY garage project
- On its own it doesn’t make concrete water- or oil-repellent
- Residue must be managed carefully during application
Who Should Buy It
It’s a strong choice for polished-concrete contractors and facilities. For a DIY garage or basement floor, a ready-to-use densifier or a densifier/water-repellent combination is easier. See best concrete densifiers and top densifier for polished concrete.
